Spam & Payment Gating

Setting your inbox price

Choose the toll unknown senders pay to reach you.

Your toll is the amount an unknown sender must pay to land in your inbox. You control it.

Where to set it

Open Settings → Fees. You'll see your current toll amount and can enter a new one. Confirm the change and it takes effect for future inbound mail. (You won't be charged any blockchain fee to change it — that's sponsored.)

Choosing an amount

There's no single right number — it's a dial between reachability and noise:

  • Lower toll — easier for legitimate strangers (a recruiter, a new client) to reach you; less of a barrier overall.
  • Higher toll — stronger filter; only people who really want to reach you will pay.

A small amount (the cost of a coffee or less) is usually enough to deter bulk spam while staying reasonable for real people. Pick a value that reflects what your attention is worth to a stranger.

Changing your toll only affects new incoming mail. It doesn't retroactively change anything already delivered or pending.

Remember who is exempt

Your toll never applies to people on your whitelist (your approved senders / synced contacts). Setting a high toll won't inconvenience the people you actually correspond with — only strangers. See Whitelist & blacklist.

Earnings

Tolls paid to you accrue to your account balance and show up in your analytics. Note that withdrawing that balance isn't available in the app yet — see Withdrawing tolls.
